In this four-part audio series, Wayne Stiles helps you understand why God makes you wait. Unpacking the Old Testament story of Joseph, Wayne reveals how to find comfort and opportunity in the gaps between God’s promises and His answers. These lessons reveal the perspective-altering truth that sometimes when we think we are waiting on God, He is actually waiting on us.
This lesson introduces the tension of waiting on God’s sovereign plan when the long gaps of life seem to contradict what God has promised. Joseph being removed from his dysfunctional family reveals God’s grace in beginning to shape him into a godly man. There’s one perspective that can make all the difference in your thinking.

This message will show you how your obscurity is your opportunity to grow.

This lesson reveals that waiting begins with God waiting on us, not us waiting on God. The Lord used Joseph to arrange circumstances that caused his brothers to come clean and prepare the way for God’s blessing. God is waiting on us to draw near to Him, so that He may take us further along His will for us. The long resolution that God brought about between Joseph and his brothers took 22 years to prepare for it. Our waiting on God for others to change often takes a long time. Here’s help as you wait.

Sometimes, waiting on God makes no sense as He leads in ways we would not choose. Both Jacob and Joseph died in Egypt but would request burial in Canaan. Their hope was ultimately in the resurrection. They model that we are ultimately waiting on God for heaven and our hope is not in this world. It cannot be. We are waiting on God for something far, far better.
