The Reason for My Hope: Salvation
by Billy Graham (Thomas Nelson, 2013)
Each chapter of Billy Graham’s book, The Reason for My Hope, leads to one conclusion: regardless of whatever you’re face, Jesus Christ provides the answer. Dr. Graham’s easygoing writing incorporates numerous stories and illustrations to support that the idea that our hope in life and after life comes by faith in Christ.
The book struck me as having more of an apologetic purpose, one that aims to convince the reader by both emotion and logic that God’s way is the best way. The book follows this theme around topics such as:
- Selfishness
- Depravity
- The reality of hell
- Cultural deception that blinds us to truth
My favorite quote in the book:
The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the very hope that lies within. He is Earth’s only hope. He came to unlock the door of your soul to bring the light of salvation in to your life. . . . Hope will accompany us through our uncertain tomorrows if we will receive, by faith, the God of hope.
As only Billy Graham can, his book The Reason for My Hope underscores the universal necessity of the salvation Jesus offers.
